Author: Omid S (11/09/2007) Since the unit MUST be placed on a flat surface FACING UP 90 degrees from gravitation (ground) I could not install the unit facing in my panel and had to bolt it on tight facing out to be able to retract the belt. Thus, I could not put my plastic panel trim over it but can probably later trim the panel with a box cutter to go over the actuator. Therefore, I'm not sure how it would let you pull the belt if you are parked on a hill. it will give you atleast 5 degrees room though. It also senses accelleration so if u pull it fast in an instant it locks. It also does not retract all the way in, but does pull the connector up to get it out of the way. This unit should be excellent for bigger cars where it might retract all the way and have the unit be able to not only fit behind the panel but also be naturally facing 90 degrees up (so the inertia pins can let it work correctly). P.S I have a Saab 9-2x mechanically similar to a Subaru Impreza 2.5i I saved $75 off of buying a USED belt system for my car, $300 is a new one!
