Description

VEND0R- A M D

Features: Athlon64 FX-53 Processor- Retail box

For use in Desktop computers.

The next step in the PCs continuing evolution is AMD64 technology - an AMD innovation that extends the current PC architecture to provide end-users with a whole new level of performance and capability.

Not only does AMD64 technology pave the way for a seamless transition into 64-bit computing as it enters the mainstream, it also delivers unparalleled performance for the 32-bit software people are using today. In fact, it enables users to run both 32-and 64-bit applications simultaneously.

Enhancements to the AMD Athlon 64 architecture include: - Integrated Memory Controller eliminates Northbridge, reducing memory latency.

- HyperTransport technology provides a high-bandwidth link between I/O and main memory.

- Higher pipeline efficiencies with a 12-stage integer operation pipeline and 17-stage floating point unit.

- Additional 128-bit SSE registers (for multimedia instructions) as well as SSE2 compatibility.

- Level 2 cache of 1M, increasing the total effective cache to
  • AMD64 Technology AMD64 technology delivers leading-edge software performance for current and future applications, while enabling new computing experiences and capabilities. Specifically, AMD64 technology allows systems to provide high-performance 32-bit and 64-bit computing – even running both types of software at the same time. This offers end-users an easy, compelling and affordable means to take advantage of tomorrow's emerging applications. When implementing AMD64 processor-based systems, customers will be able to choose from among several options: - An entirely 32-bit environment, including a 32-bit OS and 32-bit software applications - A mixed environment, combining 32- and 64-bit software running simultaneously on a 64-bit OS - Or an entirely 64-bit environment, with exclusively 64-bit OS and software In a mixed environment, the system takes advantage of a program in the OS called a compatibility thunking layer. This program translates 32-bit application instructions into a format that the 64-bit OS can understand in order to run the software. Thunking has been used in Windows for years, providing backward compatibility with 16-bit applications as 32-bit computing became the mainstream. It is implemented in many of the most common operating systems, including Windows, Solaris and Linux.
  • HyperTransport Technology Originally invented by AMD, HyperTransport technology is a high- performance, easy-to-implement system interconnect technology that allows high-speed communication between the processor and I/O devices. It is designed to increase overall system performance by removing I/O bottlenecks, increasing bandwidth and reducing latency. As implemented in AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Athlon 64 FX processors, HyperTransport technology operates in full duplex mode, which means that data is transferred in both directions (up- and downstream) simultaneously. The end result is that HyperTransport technology can: - Enable a system bus to run at 1600MHz - Provide bandwidth of up 6.4GB/s between the processor and the graphics tunnel. - Provide a total processor-to-system bandwidth of up to 9.6GB/s (in AMD Athlon 64 processors) or up to 12.8GB/s (in AMD Athlon 64 FX processors).
  • Integrated DDR Memory Controller AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Athlon 64 FX processors feature a fully integrated memory controller that utilizes industry-standard DDR memory technology to provide increased system bandwidth for the most demanding applications. In addition, the integrated DDR memory controller significantly reduces memory latency, which refers to the time it takes to get data out of memory. This greatly improves overall performance for virtually all applications. The bottom line? AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Athlon 64 FX processors provide a 20-40% improvement in memory accessibility over existing AMD Athlon XP processors. The integrated memory controller: - Runs at processor speeds rather than front-side bus speeds due to elimination of Northbridge - As the CPU frequency increases, the integrated memory controller becomes more efficient - Dramatically decreases latency - QuantiSpeed architecture achieves approx. 160 ns max. latency - AMD64 technology is designed to achieve approx. 80 ns max. latency - Latency generally decreases further as the core frequency increases - Supports a variety of DDR memories - 200, 266, 333 and 400MHz - registered DIMMs supported by AMD Athlon 64 processors - unbuffered DIMMs supported by AMD Athlon 64 FX processors
