Description
Features: ASUS WiFi-b add-on card
There are two types of Wi-Fi components in a wireless network: 1) APs (access points) are expensive standalone devices that act as base stations to connect various computers wirelessly.
2) Client devices such as add-on cards for desktops or PC cards for notebooks. The WiFi-b combined the two for a cost-effective solution. On one hand it is an add-on card that links your desktop to existing APs. On the other hand, it bundles ASUS Software AP to turn your system into the base station of a wireless network.
Based on the 802.11b standard, the WiFi-b has the capability to
provide reliable data transfer at 11Mbps to 31 wireless devices
simultaneously. (Note: Software AP is only available under
Windows XP OS).
Includes Wi-Fi card, External antenna, Easy Setup Guide and Support CD
(Drivers and Utility inside).
- Easy Setup The ASUS WiFi-b's utility delivers user-friendly applications that help you quickly connect multiple computers and peripherals. Supporting live updates, you can download the latest drivers and utilities from the Internet for easy upgrade.
- Reliable data transfer Based on the IEEE 802.11b wireless standard, the WiFi-b add-on card provides wireless data transfer at 11Mbps and is fully compatible with other IEEE 802.11b devices.
- External antenna for optimal reception The ASUS WiFi-b is a two-piece solution consisting of the add-on card and antenna. Besides farther signal range compared to traditional internal antenna, WiFi-b s antenna provides placement flexibility as well.
- Secured wireless connection With 64/128-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption, which is the underlying security technology provided by the Wi-Fi (802.11b) standard, the WiFi-b offers maximum data protection. You can also change the encryption key as often as you please to increase security.
