DECT or Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications is an ETSI standard for cordless telephones. DECT devices made for use in the U.S. use the brand DECT 6.0.


Typical capabilities of DECT systems include:

• Multiple handsets to one base station, which allows several cordless telephones to be placed around the house, all connected on the same phone jack.


• Interference-free wireless operation to around 100 metres outdoors. Generally immune to interference from such things as Wi-Fi networks, video senders, Bluetooth technology, baby monitors and other wireless devices.


• Ability to make intercom calls between handsets.


• Sometimes up to 24 hours of extended battery talk-time.
