Author: Delta A (06/05/2009) Where purchased: HereI ordered this set of phones because my husband wanted a corded phone by his recliner, and I wanted the convenience of cordless phones with an intercom. My husband has a hearing problem, and he had tried a phone advertised for the hard of hearing, but he never could get it adjusted properly to his hearing level. These Uniden phones have a good clear sound that he can hear, and the microwave oven being on does not interfere with the cordless phones. I thought I needed more than three cordless phones because with another brand we were constantly having to charge them, so one or two were always being charged. But the battery in these phones lasts about a week before they need recharging. Another feature I hated in the other brand is that no other phone could pick up and join the conversation, and if the call was for someone other than the one who first picked up, you had to take the phone you answered to the other person or go through the hassle of using the intercom to transfer the call . . .if you knew what the extension number was of the phone they presently had that was not on the charger. With the Uniden, you can use the intercom feature or just yell, "It's for you" and when they pick up, you can hang up--and you don't have to go retrieve your phone when they get through talking. But if you want privacy on a call without anyone picking up to dial while you're talking, there is an option for that. I've never had a handset speakerphone and keep forgetting to try that, so I'm not sure how well it works. I like the Do Not Disturb mode which cuts off all ringers and forwards all calls to the answering machine. That is much better than the other phone system of taking the phone off the hook, because all calls would be missed--especially bad if we would forget to hang up the phone after my husband's nap, and it was off the hook for several hours. This phone system has lots of nice features; it has made life a little easier for us! |
